In 2009 Romain Leleu (b. Lille, 1983) was voted "Revelation" of the year in the solo instrumentalist category at the FrenchVictoires de la Musique Classique.
At the age of fifteen he entered the ParisConservatoire (CNSM), after being coached by Éric Aubier. He graduated with twoPremiers Prix, for trumpet and chamber music. He went on to work with ReinholdFriedrich at the Karlsruhe Hochschule für Musik in Germany.
Well-known as a chamber musician with his FeelingBrass Quintet, formed in 2000, Romain Leleu also enjoys performing the concertorepertoire. In works ranging from Baroque to contemporary, he appears as asoloist both in France and abroad (Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestrenational de Lille, Orchestre national de Lorraine, Orchestre de Bretagne,Orchestre Régional de Cannes PACA, Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine,Orchestre d?Auvergne, Orchestre Philharmonique de l?Opéra de Marseille,Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy, Württembergsiches Kammerorchester Heilbronn,Slovak Sinfonietta, Hermitage State Orchestra of St Petersburg, Saratov StatePhilharmonic Orchestra, Baltic Chamber Orchestra, in Belgium for Musiq3Festival in Brussels, in Japan for Tokyo Folle Journée, in Korea for SeoulSpring Festival, Romania in Bucharet Atheneum Concert Hall, in Russia atHermitage Theatre in St Petersburg, etc. ).
As a worthy heir of the prestigious French trumpetschool, Romain Leleu is invited to appear all over the world. His love formusic, combined with a lively curiosity, leads him to embark on all sorts ofadventures. He works with many contemporary creators, including Karol Beffa,Philippe Hersant and Martin Matalon, and he often appears on radio andtelevision.
Interesting by teaching, Romain Leleu give a lot ofMasterclasses: Tokyo College of Music, Seoul National University, MusicalpAcademy of Courchevel, and in many National French Conservatory.
Romain Leleu is an artist of great potential. Hehas been a "Yamaha Performing Artist" since 2002, and has received awards frommajor foundations (Fondation Groupe Banque Populaire, the Simone et Cino DelDuca Foundation, which provides arts prizes through the French Académie desBeaux-Arts, the Fondation Meyer pour le développement culturel et artistique,and the Fondation SAFRAN pour la Musique, ADAMI revelation) and competition(Lieksa Brass Week special prize in Finland, Chamber Music InternationalCompetition of Lyon in France...).
During the current season, 2011?12, Romain Leleu'sengagements include appearances in Belgium, Russia and Japan, Algeria, with theOrchestre de Picardie and the Orchestre national de Lille. He will also begiving the first performance of Trame XII by Martin Matalon with the Orchestred'Auvergne.
Romain Leleu' s first CD with orchestra will beavailable in November 2011 for classical concertos with Baltic ChamberOrchestra - soloists of St Petersburg Philharmonic will be released by thelabel Aparté/Harmonia Mundi.In 2011, Romain Leleu has received award fromFrench Académie des Beaux Arts.
