Hyeon-Seon Jo was born in Korea, comes from a musical family and began her musical education at the age of four with her mother I.S. Seo. Then she has studied by Prof. K.J. Rha (Busan State University) and Prof. S.J. Shin and Prof. J.K. Kim (Seoul State University). She continued her piano study at the Musikhochschule in Cologne (Germany) and graduated the solo class by Professor Tiny Wirtz.
After her study in Europa she got an honorary doctorate degree on the Shepherd University in the USA.
Strong expression and charismatic piano playing, technical perfection and emotional intensity, maturity, as well as striking musicality and sound imagination: Korean Pianist Hyeon-Seon Jo captivates the audience as a soloist and as a chamber musician in Korea, Japan, USA and Europa (with numerous Korean orchestras, New York Phil String Quartet, Moscow String Quartet, Muse String Quartet, Ars String Quartet etc).
Hyeon-Seon Jo has performed numerous world premieres of contemporary piano music in Korea. She played at several international music festivals. Since 1988 she is a member of the "Muse" piano trio , ensemble.
Hyeon-Seon Jo is a Professor of piano at the Kyungsung University in Busan, South Korea.
