Allgemeine Kursinformationen:

Students should arrive in Solsona on August 8th not later than 5 pm.
Departure day is August 20th in the morning.

Accommodation is located at the Seminary of Solsona. For further information check "Accommodation"

Application requirements

Application deadline is June 30th 2012.

Interested students need to fill out all fields and send us our online Registration Form available on this page. To validate the application it is necessary to transfer a 200€ deposit fee. The transfer must mention the name of the applying student.

The total course fee is 900€. A second money transfer of 700€ will be due after applicant has been selected as an active student to AIMS. The student will receive an email confirming his admission. After that, the second transfer of 700€ has to be done in between 20 days.

AIMS will select potential students. We therefore recommend enclosing a recording (audio or video) of not less than 15 minutes together with your application.

Students who are not selected will be refunded the 200€ registration fee.

Selected students will have to provide proof of the international money transfer from their bank showing that the total course fees (900€) have been paid. The transfer must mention the name of the applying student.

The 900€ fee includes the participation in all classes, the accommodation in individual or double rooms (subject to availability), with complete bathroom, breakfast and lunch. It also includes the free entrance and the transport by bus to all the concerts of the AIMS Festival.

Individual lessons

Active students will receive not less than 4 individual lessons. All of the AIMS classes are open to students.

Students furthermore have free entrance and bus transportation to all concerts.

Chamber music

AIMS faculty will assign students to chamber music groups and will be taught by the AIMS faculty. The AIMS chamber music is another opportunity for performing in the Festival concerts.

We recommend that to bring scores and parts of any chamber music you would like to play. AIMS faculty will assign students to chamber music groups and will provide coaching.


AIMS 2012 orchestra will work and perform in various reduced chamber orchestra ensembles under the direction of Sergey Ostrovsky and Johannes Geffert.

One of the major works will be the Serenade for Strings, op.20 by Edward Elgar.

Participation in the orchestra is a requirement. The director of AIMS in collaboration with the faculty will select the players of the orchestra. AIMS will send parts to each orchestra member. Individual practice is expected before arriving in Solsona.

Concerto Competition AIMS 2012

The Concerto Competition aims 2012 (check Presentation on this page) has the following rules:

It is open to all active violin, viola, cello, double bass and piano students of aims 2012.

Participants may present any concerto composed for solo instrument and string orchestra. Double or triple concertos are admitted as well.

The competition/audition will take place on August 9th in order to select the winner/s who will have the opportunity to perform his concerto during the festival concerts accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra AIMS 2012. Aims faculty will act as jury for the competition. Participants must apply for the competition together with their application for AIMS 2012 (deadline: June 30th 2012).


Students who wish to perform in one of the six student concerts must prepare at least one entire solo work for their instrument (unaccompanied work).

Students interested in performing at the students' concerts should indicate which pieces they would like to play on their application form. The program for these concerts will be decided by the faculty during AIMS strictly according to artistic criteria.


Students under 18 will be allocated a chaperone.

AIMS will require written permission from the parent or guardian allowing this.


All participants must arrange their own medical insurance in case of illness or accident.
