Allgemeine Kursinformationen:

General Information
Kyungsung International Piano Academy Masterclass and Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities from the age of 15 to 35 years old and will be held at Kyungsung University in Busan, South Korea.
Three world famous pianists, renowned performers and professors, jurors of major international piano competitions, including the Artistic Director of the Academy Alexey Lebedev, will give lessons to the active participants and will be on the Jury at the academy competition that follows the masterclass.
Each active participant will receive 3 lessons during the academy. Participants are required to take one lesson from each professor. The lessons program is free choice of repertoire representing contrasting style periods. The pieces for masterclass should be practiced and prepared to a respectable level. All work, chosen to be performed by the participant, must be published.

Competition
Each active participant will take part in the academy competition directly after the end of the masterclass. The competition will be held in the Big Concert Hall of Kyungsung University and will be open to the public. The competition program is free choice repertoire – one or several works. Each performance will last 10 minutes but not to exceed 13 minutes. The program should be performed from memory and all the work performed must be published. After the competition there will be prizewinners concert and award ceremony. For the prizewinners of the competition, there will be monetary awards:
1st Prize: 2.000.000 Won
2nd Prize: 600.000 Won
3rd Prize: 400.000 Won
All decisions of Jury are final. The Jury can decide not to award any prizes or the Jury can also have multiple winners share a prize.

Practice Rooms
There are practice rooms with pianos and grand pianos for all active participants during the time of the masterclass and competition.

Accommodation
Accommodation for the duration of the Academy is not provided. However a list for obtainable accommodation will be provided to international participants and participants from cities other than Busan, South Korea.

VISA
Any applicants requiring a visa must indicate this on the application form. You are fully responsible for your own travel costs, accommodations while in Busan, South Korea visa fees, medical and travel insurance and other personal expenses. Participants Who Are Under Age
Parent or legal guardian of participant who is under 18 years old, must complete and attach the parental authorization (see below in application procedure).
Parent or legal guardian of participant under 16 years old must accompany her/his child during of Kyungsung International Piano Academy.
When signing the application document the parent or legal guardian declares his or her agreement, that the Kyungsung International Piano Academy cannot assume any responsibility for supervising the participant who is under age.

Application and Payment
Completed Application must be received by the Academy Office not later than 15th of May 2014 (deadline) at the following address:

Late applications will not be accepted.
The application must be completed with following documents:
1) Application form  (ODT Download)
2) One color photograph (digital format with a high resolution of 300dpi)
3) One page biography or resume about studies, competitions awards, concert experiences and other information
4) A recording of good quality - CD or DVD, or a link address on youtube of your performance: a free choice repertoire lasting from 10 - 15 minutes in duration.
5*) Parental authorization (for participants who are under age - children under 18 years old)

Application documents could be sent by e-mail or by post: 1) application form, 2) photograph, 3) biography, 4) a link address on you-tube, 5*) parental authorization
The CD or DVD recording must be sent only by post.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONs WILL NOT BE EXCEPTED.
After the application procedure the organizing committee will select 21 active participants for the Piano Academy.
All selected active participants will receive an official invitation to participate in the Piano Academy (the notification about participation will be sent by e-mail to all applicants on 19th of May 2014).

Payment
The participation fee: 650.000 WON
All active participants should transfer the participation fee of 650,000 WON to the bank account of academy during 10 days after receiving an official invitation. (The participation fee with bank transfer should be received by academy not later than 2nd of June 2014).
The bank account details will be sent by e-mail together with official invitation to all active participants.

Withdrawal
If written notification of withdrawal is submitted before 12th of July 2014, the 80% from the participation fee will be reimbursed, the 20% as a processing fee will be retained. All transaction charges will be deducted. Cancelling of participation after 12th of July 2014 will not be accepted and no fee will be reimbursed.

Guests and Passive Participants
For guests and passive participants there is a day-ticket for 50,000 WON for listening to the lessons given by the international professors. The academy concerts and competition are open for public and free of charge.
In case of differences of interpretation of the Kyungsung International Piano Academy Regulations, the Korean text will be held as definitive.

Timetable of Kyungsung International Piano Academy (from 12th to 16th August 2014)
12th August- Participants arrive at Busan
4.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. - Registration and orientation for participants (all participants should participate in registration and orientation)
6.30 p.m. - Opening ceremony, meeting with international professors of the academy.
13th August
10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. - Lessons
7.30 p.m. - Academy concert in Recital Hall (active participants)
14th August
10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. - Lessons
7.30 p.m. - Academy concert in Recital Hall (active participants)
15th August
10.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. – Lessons
7.30 p.m. – Academy concert in Recital Hall (active participants)
16th August
1.30 p.m. - Competition (21 active participants)
7.30 p.m. - Prizewinners concert, award ceremony, all 21 active participants will receive a certificate of participation from Kyungsung International Piano Academy with signatures by the participating international professors. (All 21 active participants should attend the award ceremony)
8.30 p.m. - Reception (closing party)
